Not many of us enjoy dealing with budgets whether for ourselves or our families. The reality of our dollar not reaching as far as it once did hurts because inevitably something has to give in the budget to make ends meet.

Your tiny home build budget is no different or at least that has been my experience.

I’m won’t be the first one to say this in a tiny house blog post and I won’t be the last – tiny home trailers are expensive!

In the instance of one quote I received would make it prohibitive for me to continue with my build for the foreseeable future.

Fortunately, I came across a fabricator that was able to bring the cost of my trailer requirements within my limited budget.

Just for the record I plan on completing my build myself…along with the help of licensed professionals.  I hope to complete my entire build in a 3 to 4 phases over the course of 12-18 months.

In this, the first of many blog entries on my tiny home build we will look at my build budget for what I call “Phase 1”.  Phase 1 includes the building of the shell of my tiny home including exterior finishes, windows, doors and roofing.

I’ve decided to take a phased approach to my build so that I’m able to make my build a reality.

I’ve budgeted $15,000 for the initial phase of my build however, I’m already realizing some savings over what I had allocated in the budget.

Take a look!
